YAKIMA / Borderlines
THE BRIEF
Yakima wanted a brand story that honored its roots while connecting to today’s culture of outdoor adventure.
THE APPROACH
I developed a narrative deck exploring the parallels between the Vagabond surf travelers of the 1960s and modern outdoor adventurers. Drawing from Yakima’s Pacific Northwest heritage, the concept framed both generations as part of the same lineage of wanderers chasing movement, freedom, and the open road.
EXECUTION
The deck built a cinematic brand narrative set along the Oregon Coast, blending archival inspiration with contemporary outdoor culture. A hand-drawn visual language—sketches, map-style illustrations, and graphic motifs—helped reinforce the DIY spirit of the original surf vagabonds while complementing Yakima’s adventurous brand identity. The result positioned Yakima gear not simply as equipment, but as tools for a life defined by exploration and the pursuit of wild places.
